Terms and Conditions for Puma PRIS
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the PRIS Africa Application, closed-loop wallet, and loyalty programme in Tanzania. By creating an account or using PRIS, you accept these Terms.
1. Definitions
- “Puma”, “Puma Energy”, “Puma Energy Tanzania Limited”, “We”, “Us” – shall refer to Puma Energy Tanzania Limited and its affiliates, shareholders and partners.
- “PRIS” – Puma Energy’s mobile app, closed-loop wallet, and loyalty programme in Tanzania.
- “Wallet” – a stored-value facility usable only at participating Puma Energy service stations in Tanzania.
- “Points” – loyalty points earned on qualifying purchases and redeemable per the prevailing rates.
- “QR Payments” – a payment method using QR codes to deduct funds from your Wallet balance at participating locations.
- “PIN” – a confidential code required for redemption and certain account actions.
- “PRIS Business” – A fleet and business payment solution offered by Puma Energy that enables approved business customers to make fuel and related purchases using MyFuel Cards, QR codes, wallets, or other authorized payment instruments.
- “Authorised User” – Any employee, driver, or representative authorised by a Business Account holder to transact using PRIS for Business.
- “MyFuel Card” – A physical or virtual fuel card issued or accepted by Puma Energy and linked to a PRIS for Business account.
- “Business Account” – A PRIS account registered in the name of a legal entity for business or fleet usage, including accounts administered by a company administrator.
- “POS” – Puma Energy’s point-of-sale systems, including Odoo POS and any integrated third-party systems.
- “Transaction” – Any payment, redemption, authorisation, or deduction of Wallet balance, card balance, or limits through PRIS.
2. Eligibility & Account / Consumer’s obligations
- You must be 18+ or have guardian consent to use PRIS.
- Provide accurate information and keep your contact details up to date.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Accounts inactive for 12 consecutive months may be subject to closure, and any remaining Wallet balance or Points may be forfeited.
3. Wallet (ClosedLoop) & QR Payments / Supplier’s obligations
- The Wallet is closed-loop and may only be used at participating Puma Energy stations in Tanzania.
- Wallet value and Points are not legal tender, are non-transferable (except via enabled in-app features), and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- QR code payments deduct your Wallet balance instantly; please review amounts before confirming.
- We may place reasonable limits on top-ups, balance, and daily spend to manage risk and comply with law.
- The Wallet and your account are not a credit facility.
- All Wallet balances and transactions are denominated in TZS unless otherwise stated.
- Wallet balances do not accrue interest.
- For PRIS for Business transactions, Wallet or QR payments may be linked to fleet controls, MyFuel Cards, or Business Accounts, and additional terms under Section 5 shall apply.
4. Family Sharing & Security
- Family sharing is permitted but entirely at your risk. Only share access with trusted persons.
- Keep your PIN secure. You are responsible for transactions performed using your PIN.
- Notify us immediately via prisafrica@pumaenergy.freshdesk.com if you suspect unauthorised use; we may suspend or block the account while we investigate.
- The primary account holder assumes full responsibility for all transactions and activities conducted by any person granted access through Family Sharing features.
5. PRIS for Business
Business Account Responsibility / Consumer’s obligations
PRIS for Business accounts are intended solely for business and fleet-related transactions.
The Business Account holder is fully responsible for:
- transactions conducted on the account;
- actions of all Authorized Users;
- configuration of spending limits, vehicles, drivers, and controls;
- safeguarding access credentials, cards, QR codes, and devices.
Puma Energy shall be entitled to rely on instructions, transactions, and confirmations initiated through the PRIS platform, POS, MyFuel Cards, or QR codes as duly authorised by the Business Account holder.
Payment Authorization & Irrevocability / Supplier’s obligations
All PRIS for Business transactions are deemed authorized once:
- a valid MyFuel Card is presented with correct PIN; or
- a QR code is scanned and confirmed and correct PIN is entered; or
- the transaction is accepted by the POS system.
Once fuel or goods have been dispensed, transactions are final and irreversible, except in cases of proven system error attributable solely to Puma Energy.
The Business Account holder acknowledges that fuel delivery is instantaneous and cannot be returned once dispensed.
POS & System Dependency
PRIS for Business transactions are processed through integrated POS systems, including Odoo POS.
While Puma Energy implements reasonable safeguards, the Business Account holder acknowledges that transactions rely on system availability, connectivity, and third-party infrastructure.
Puma Energy shall not be liable for losses arising from network outages, delayed authorisations, or third-party system failures beyond its reasonable control.
Fraud, Misuse & Liability Allocation
The Business Account holder bears the risk of fraud, misuse, or unauthorised transactions arising from:
- lost or stolen cards;
- compromised QR codes;
- shared PINs or credentials;
- inadequate internal controls over drivers or employees.
Puma Energy shall not be liable for losses where transactions were processed using valid authentication mechanisms, unless caused by Puma Energy’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Any suspected fraud must be reported immediately. Failure to notify Puma Energy within 24 hours period from the time of transaction may result in the Business Account holder bearing the full loss.
Limits, Controls & Compliance
Business Account holders are responsible for configuring and monitoring transaction limits, vehicle assignments, and user permissions.
Puma Energy may impose transaction, volume, or value limits to comply with risk, operational, or regulatory requirements in Tanzania.
Disputes & Investigation Timelines
Business transaction disputes must be raised within 14 days of the transaction date.
Puma Energy may investigate disputes using POS logs, system records, CCTV, and third-party data. Such records shall be prima facie evidence of the transaction.
If a transaction is confirmed as valid, the Business Account holder shall remain liable for the full amount.
6. Points: Earning, Redemption, and Expiry
- You earn Points on qualifying purchases and promotions as communicated from time to time.
- Redemption requires a valid PIN. We may vary the items eligible for redemption and the number of Points required. We will provide you with prior notice in the event there is any variation in the terms eligible for redemption.
- Redemption values (pointstobenefit) may change without prior notice. The current rates are always available on the PRIS website/app.
- Unless stated otherwise, Points expire 12 months after issuance. Expired Points cannot be reinstated.
- Some rewards or benefits may be supplied by third party vendors, partners or service providers.
- Points are non-transferable except as permitted by in-app features and hold no cash value. Points cannot be purchased or sold.
7. Fees & Statements
- We do not currently charge account maintenance fees. We may introduce reasonable fees in the future, and will publish changes on the PRIS website/app.
- You can view recent transactions and Points activity in the app. Please report discrepancies within 30 days.
- Any introduction of new fees or changes to existing fees will be communicated to users at least 30 days prior to implementation through the PRIS Africaapp or website.
- Cooling-off period
- You shall be allowed a minimum of 14 days to withdraw from the PRIS loyalty programme in line with applicable laws.
8. Prohibited Uses
- Illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive conduct.
- Tampering with the app, Wallet, or redemption mechanisms.
- Selling or trading Wallet value or Points outside PRIS policies.
9. Errors, Reversals, and Fraud
- If an error occurs (e.g., technical failure, duplicate charge), notify us promptly. We may reverse or adjust transactions where appropriate.
- Transaction discrepancies or unauthorised activities must be reported within 30 days of the transaction date. Failure to report within this period may result in the denial of a claim.
- We may suspend, limit, or close accounts, and forfeit Points obtained through misuse, abuse or fraud.
- Transactions involving fuel dispensing or Business Accounts are generally non-reversible once completed, except in cases of verified system error.
10. Service Changes & Availability
- We may add, remove, or modify features, stations, or eligibility criteria.
- Service may be interrupted for maintenance, upgrades, or events beyond our control. Puma Energy to include a provision addressing notice on matters beyond the control of the parties.
- Puma Energy reserves the right to discontinue the PRIS programme or any of its features at any time, with notice provided to users as practicable.
11. Security and Unauthorised Use
- You are at all times responsible for keeping our PIN safe. We shall presume that any transactions done on your PRIS account are done by you.
- Please inform us immediately if your PIN has been compromised or if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Users are advised to enable security features on their mobile devices, such as biometric authentication and screen locks, to prevent unauthorised access to the PRIS Africa.
12. Liability
- To the extent permitted by law, Puma Energy Tanzania Limited is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from unauthorized use where you shared your PIN or failed to secure your device.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or liability that cannot be excluded under Tanzanian law.
- For PRIS for Business, Puma Energy’s liability is limited to direct losses proven to arise solely from Puma Energy’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Puma Energy Tanzania Limited, Puma Energy, Puma, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with your:
- breach of these Terms;
- misuse of PRIS; or
- any unlawful or negligent act or omission related to your use of PRIS.
This indemnity is to the extent permitted by Tanzanian law.
14. Privacy
Your data will be used for administering the PRIS programme and sending communications. Your use of PRIS is also governed by the PRIS Privacy Policy (Tanzania). Please review it carefully.
Personal data may be shared with third-party reward providers solely for fulfilling rewards, in accordance with the PRIS Privacy Policy. Accessible via the link.
15. Intellectual Property
All trademarks, logos, and content in the app are owned by Puma or its licensors. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, lawful purposes.
Users agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the PRIS Africa app.
16. Disclaimers
- The PRIS website/app may include links to third party websites, apps and content. You choose to access these at your own risk.
- Puma Energy does not endorse or assume responsibility for third-party content, privacy policies, or practices.
- We do not control the quality, safety or legality of third-party goods and services offered through the PRIS programme.
- All third-party rewards are subject to the supplier's own terms and conditions, and redemption may require you to interact directly with the third party.
- We are not responsible for loss, damage or disputes relating to third party rewards, and your remedies (if any) must be sought from the third-party provider.
- Points and rewards are subject to availability and system functionality. This means that rewards may be limited in quantity or unavailable at certain times, and the earning, redemption, or processing of points may be delayed, restricted, or unavailable due to system maintenance, technical issues, or unforeseen disruptions.
- We are not liable for technical glitches, errors, or disruptions unless caused by intentional or gross negligence.
- All content in the app, on our website, or in promotional materials (including information about rewards, offers, and partner services) is provided for general information purposes only.
- While we aim to ensure accuracy, we do not guarantee that content is error-free, current, or complete.
- We reserve the right from time to time to correct errors, update information, or withdraw rewards without prior notice. This may affect individuals who have already rewarded, particularly in cases of errors, inaccuracies, or misuse.
- You are responsible for verifying details (including reward eligibility, expiry dates, and partner terms) before making decisions based on the content provided.
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on content displayed in the app, website, or related communications.
17. Amendments
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the app or website. The latest version will always be available on the PRIS website/app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Customer Onboarding
- Sees loyalty branding at forecourt (pump toppers, standees, POS screens)
- Staff prompts customer to join OR customer scans QR code
- Customer downloads loyalty app / registers via SMS
- Provides mobile number (primary identifier)
- Receives welcome points
19. Termination
You may close your account at any time via the app or by contacting support- prisafrica@pumaenergy.freshdesk.com
We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, fraud, or unlawful activity. We may also terminate where required by law or regulator. Upon termination, any remaining Wallet balance or Points will be forfeited, except where prohibited by law.
You may rescind subscription within 10 days after the contract is entered into.
20. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of jurisdiction in the United Republic of Tanzania.

Puma Energy shall provide prior notice to consumers whenever there is any variation in the items eligible for redemption or in the number of points required.
In the event that the matter is beyond control of the parties, Puma Energy shall issue a notice on the matter.
